How to Change Vehicle Oil at Home
Changing the oil is one of the most important things to do to keep the engine functioning properly. You can do regular oil changes at the nearest repair shop, but did you know you can actually change your vehicle’s oil at home?. This is more profitable to save costs and reduce activities outside the home under this pandemic.
Here are the things you should prepare to change the oil at home :
- Prepare tools
In changing your vehicle’s oil, you need the following tools to facilitate oil change activities . These tools can be used as an oil funnel, a container for collecting used oil, pliers, a ring wrench, and fresh oil that will be used. Make sure the oil you use is under the engine capacity you have. Read carefully in the engine manual provided.
- Change the oil when the engine is warm
Change your vehicle’s oil while the engine is warm. Turn on your vehicle for about 1-3 minutes and turn it off. This is because if the oil change is in a cold engine condition, the oil will thicken and will be difficult to get out. It is feared that there will still be oil remaining on the engine walls. If the oil change is done when the temperature of the vehicle is hot, it will be difficult to open the oil bolt and the oil that comes out can burn the skin. So do it carefully and make sure the oil change is warm.
- Unscrew the oil bolt and remove the old oil
After opening the oil cap, let the oil out thoroughly and clean the dirt or oil that sticks, then reinstall the bolts tightly.
- Pour New Oil
Put the oil into the oil filling hole with a funnel to keep the oil from spilling and wasting.
- Warm up the machine
Close the oil filler cap again and preheat the engine for about 3-5 minutes so that the engine is completely lubricated.
Finally, don’t forget to note when your oil change date is. Use our equipment and do regular maintenance.
